Randomized control trial on the effects of unconditional basic income (UBI)
June 1st launched the nationwide first pilot project investigating the individual and social effects of a UBI (1,200.00 EUR/month) on recipients in a randomized controlled trial (RCT) that will last for 3 years. Investigating not only the effects on labor supply but also personal experiences and wellbeing Susann Fiedler and colleagues plan to inform the policy debate by providing first empirical evidence on how a UBI could affect behavior and attitudes. The sponsors behind the study are over 140,000 private individuals whose monthly donations through the NGO MeinGrundeinkommen e.V. will pay the basic incomes for 122 of 1500 participants.
