Everyone has probably experienced hate on the Internet in some form or another - regardless of whether they were attacked themselves or passively read a hate attack. Social networks in particular are home to numerous users who incite hatred against ethnic, sexual or religious minorities. One in five users is said to have already been a victim of hate speech. Can we do something ourselves against hate comments? Or are we restricting freedom of expression by doing so? And what penalties do authors of hate comments have to fear?
